In 1994, my son, Andrew, was diagnosed with autism. He was four years old, and I had been struggling to understand his behavior for years. He was a beautiful, intelligent child, but he didn't speak, and he seemed to live in his own world.

The diagnosis was a relief, but it was also the beginning of a long and difficult journey. I had to learn everything I could about autism, and I had to find a way to help Andrew live a full and happy life.

The early years were the hardest. Andrew didn't sleep through the night until he was seven years old, and he had tantrums that lasted for hours. He didn't go to school until he was eight years old, and even then, he only went for a few hours each day.

But through it all, I never gave up on Andrew. I knew that he was a special child, and I was determined to help him reach his full potential.

I read every book I could find on autism, and I talked to every expert I could find. I learned about different therapies and treatments, and I tried everything I could to help Andrew.

Slowly but surely, Andrew began to progress. He started to speak, and he started to interact with the world around him. He went to school full-time, and he made friends. He even started to play sports.

Andrew is now a young man, and he is ng well. He is happy and healthy, and he is living a full and productive life. He is a testament to the power of love and determination.

My journey with Andrew has been a long and strange one, but it has also been the most rewarding experience of my life. I have learned so much about autism, and I have learned so much about myself. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be Andrew's mother, and I am so proud of the young man he has become.

If you are the parent of a child with autism, I urge you to never give up hope. There is help available, and there is hope for a better future. With love and determination, you can help your child reach their full potential.

Mother and Son: A Long Strange Journey into Autism is a story of love, hope, and determination. It is a story that will inspire you and give you hope for the future.
